Author Topic: New virus anyone?  (Read 4754 times)

Funny, all the computers at our school just happened to reset their restore points recently...
It couldn't be caused by students not doing their work on computers and going to stuffty websites...

You can never be too sure, although I doubt I have it on my computer.
Therefore, I've told my antivirus to do a thorough scan of everything on my computer.

www.microsoft.com

If you can't see this site, while being able to go to other sites, you have it.  I'm not sure if you can see it if that means your positively safe though.

I can view some Microsoft.com pages, but not others. What does that mean?

Yea, that could be bad.  Make sure your virus scanner is working, and do scans.  I'd also back-up everything important, and disconnect your computer from the internet before April 1st just incase.

After a bit of research, I'm 99% sure I have it. So far, I don't think I have much important, but I'll be thinking about what to back up.

Well Im screwed. I neglected to get anti virus software up until now, so I probobly have it.

How did you even get it...?

Not going to explain, something I downloaded externally for TDU that if I explained it's purpose I would probably get banned.

I could go to all Microsoft.com pages so I am sure I do not have it.

I am running a microsoft malicious software scan now, not sure if it is any good but I may as well.  It has to be better tan nothing.

All spybot did was pick up the usual IE virus that is half deleted. Nothing more then a few bugs but that is it.

I don't get Microsoft's logic in making a patch when they know it blocks you from downloading stuff from Microsoft.

On Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 systems, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability without authentication to run arbitrary code.

EDIT: that is bad, right? [because of the virus].
