Author Topic: Bullet Speed Limitations No more!  (Read 1624 times)

Any person with a brain can learn to compensate for bullet drag.
But not for people not moving where you want. IE: going slightly to the left.

He means a sniper rifle with instant hits.

Melee weapons actually still use a projectile, just an invisible/fast one that disappears quickly so it's short ranged.

A raycast would have instant-hit properties and be able to act like the one described. I made a support script which is in use for Team Deathmatch's Police Baton/Flag weapons to save projectile datablocks and it seems to work when set to use a longer range. I gave it to Bushido where he used it for a Sniper Rifle kind of weapon (the "Metal Slug") which appears to work fine.

Well that there is some useful knowlege, but how would the super fast projectile target to a player, because Im pretty sure when you use a sniper you dont come 2 feet away from the persan and say "Oh Im going to instant kill you with my 2 foot away hacked weapon!" (I get a little bord sometimes)

You're an idiot. He means change the range of the melee projectile to be really really far away. In fact, people here have said that multiple times.

All of this brings us to what I always thought that our weapons should be like. All of them should have instant (or almost instant) travel time. The bullets would have spread to provide the inaccuracy, and maybe even a bit of falling on it. That would make all of the guns a lot more realistic. This is my opinion on things. (and would be realistic)

sorry for bump, but

I dont think melee weapons can have spread... So i think this idea is for 100% accurate guns only.

(i dont see bushido's metal slug on RTB, is it an older add-on [that maybe somebody could link me to]?)

The melee projectile moves at exactly the same speed as the fastest normal bullet snipers we have - it does not have instant hit, it just is unnoticeable at such short ranges.

As far as what I can see what I said was what was suggested. At least, that's what I think anyways.

EDIT: Also the person I quoted thought when people said "melee weapon projectile" that the people were talking about going up to enemies and hitting them with a sniper.
