Author Topic: The Blockland Times - The Unnofficial Blockland Magazine  (Read 6443 times)

That was actually kinda interesting and creative. :D
Finally. :D

You need  Blockland Times blacklist.

You need a Blockland Times blacklist.
What... On second thought I kind of like the idea, a few pages designed to be the unofficial blockland blacklist, would be controlled by the community, sounds kind of smart, but would suck for anyone on it.

Exactly my point. It would be interesting, promote viewers, and would be another punishment for noobs who decide to act out.

at first when skimming, when it said that slicksilver was a columnist, i thought it said he was a communist

I like it, altough you should create a cover, with pictures and such.

Lol you're the third person to tell me that.

The writing was uninspired, the articles were too short, the content only materialized on these forums through links, and worst of all, none of it was new or interesting.

The page layout was an improvement over "BLOK Magazine"s eye-straining backgrounds and micro-font yet huge areas of empty space and seemingly random placement of items on the sparsely populated pages reduce the overall visual appeal. A more structured, consistent layout would be great (but break it up occasionally with exciting images and quips).

Ultimately there is one fatal flaw in the whole ordeal, you are trying to regurgitate the news generated by an inclusive community upon itself. Unless you manage to gain exclusive content in advance of it's public release your articles are nothing but "spin" on old news.
The magazines you are trying to emulate are based on a model of bringing a wide variety of content, some of it exclusive, to a broad audience. They bring you news about games and events that are soon to occur, not events that occurred yesterday or a month ago.

I understand that it's cool to be the creator of something, to have a little project to be the boss of, but there are more productive ways to spend your time.

I love how someone using "Blockland" in the name of their magazine threatens legal action for misuse of content.  What if Badspot wanted to charge you a fee for every page view your document received?  See how ridiculous this becomes?  Nice spelling of "unofficial" btw.

It's ridiculous for Badspot to do something like that, but is it that ridiculous for a magazine to want to have itself not plagiarized?
Also: I didn't post the topic so not my problem.

You're using the name of someone else's copyrighted work in the name of a magazine without permission and you still have the gall to harass people about potential (however unlikely, since no one cares about it) misuse of your stuff?  "Legal Rights Manager" my ass.

This is the stuff epic Drama topics are made of.

Yeah, I didn't know what to say, but I wanted to give him credit, haha.
And I never harassed them, I just put in a TOS.

Lol, wow. Can you add a little more text in the second?
