Remember, there are 2 kinds of dropships. There is the LAAT/I Republic Attack Gunship which is the one that carries the troopers, and there is this one, the LAAT/C which carries walkers.

LAAT/C? Never heard of that kind of Republic dropship and for some reason I have the LAAT/I in lego at this moment it looks like a fat version of this

It uses some kind of gravity thing in the movie, but the lego model has some sort of mechanism that holds it.
