Yeah when my second xbox broke I played it fine, then I went to my dad's for a few days then came back and I got the red rings.

That's strange because my xbox is on now and I took out the cords then turned it on, I did not get rings.

You would only get rings if the xbox end was messed up. (this happened to me D: )

Well, I can check it plug-in for the A/V cords.

EDIT: The A/V plug-in is fine, but when I just lightly tilt it, I heard something rolling or sliding inside of it. :/

Wouldn't wrapping the 360 in towels and letting it stay on just make it hotter because all the air and stuff is trapped inside and cannot escape?

Wrong and Wrong.
The theory behind overheating it is that you're heating the solder components, essentially re-soldering them into place. It doesn't void the warranty, either.

It doesn't work for every problem, not every problem is related to solder..
