im all for taking care of yourself, because im doing well. and not a fan of helping the less fortunate because i bust my ass to give myself nice things while others think it should be given to them.
is it nice? no
am i fair? no
think of it this way.
you have a slightly higher intellect then most. you get yourself educated. you work hard to accomplish things. nothing they couldn't do, but they choose not to. but you demand more out of your life and you work harder to earn it.
now if i was in need of medical attention. why should i have to queue up behind people that have done nothing with their life. while they sit there filling out forms issued in the waiting room for government assistance; the deserving people have to be treated as equals and have no priority.
forget human rights

You don't always start with lemons in life. People have potential, why don't they unlock it you ask? Often times, they can't. It isn't about them not helping themselves, they have no means to do so. At many times they do receive education and whatnot, but it's substandard and sadly nowadays filled with propaganda.
You can give them those means, furthermore that would be your Kantian duty to do so. If you say "No, I won't help them" then too bad, you're being immoral. Life's unfair like that but hey atleast as a community life is a little better.
