when i host a dedicated lan server for me and my dad to build on, i can't see the server, and also it's on the same computer, any ideas?

When your dad is looking for the server, make him click: "Query Lan" at the bottom.

Are you using the same I.D.? If so, you can't join a server hosted by someone with the same I.D.

Totally not true.  I see plenty of people with the same names and IDs on the same servers.
