well, good point, not really, My grandmother was Jewish therefore....

and about Hell, you dont go to hell by doing bad stuff, you go to Hell by not believing in Jesus, and the way the Bible means believing isnt just believing its true, its by living the Bible, showing that you love God enough to atleast honor him by following his commands, he knows we are sinners, so thats why he gave Jesus to really suffer Hell, in fact, Jesus went and suffered in Hell, for the lot of us.
I know this. The argument against gay people, is that it is a "continual act of sin, with out repentance." Obviously, if you keep living with another man, you aren't particularly repentant. But if they don't go to hell, they go to heaven, because Jesus died for thier sins, that what is your argument against being gay? Just the thought of some another man having brown town intercourse with another? Well, you can just try not to think about that, haha...
So dont come on and discrace my Faith, its not your place, I was simply stating my point of view.
WTF. If you consider an objective argument disgracing your faith, whatever. I didn't come in here and say Christianity is stupid. I came in here and said "You are wrong." Perhaps you should try and read my argument better, and try and understand your faith a little better.
And about the Bible, it was the words of God spoken to man, yes God actually spoke to them(guess that idea never clicked to you guys).  He did make human contact, but when He did they either became mute, or blind, He was too powerfull.
Yes, its the whole God-inspired man concept. But it doesn't have much relavance to the argument.
And sodomy is strickly brown town love between guys, it has no other meaning whatsoever, I didnt wanna say it on bl forums, but he's talking about richards up asses-so I guess I can say the words "brown town love".  Also, anything goes when ur married, if ur 40 years old and you want a lewinsky from your wife, go right ahead, but plz dont tell me about it,
Sodomy is used to characterize certain loveual acts. The term is most commonly used to describe the specific act of brown town love between two males, or between a male and a female. The term "sodomy" also may include loveual acts ranging from oral love to paraphilia. It is sometimes used to describe human-animal loveual intercourse.
ew,

But then theres a possibility that religon is nothing but a facde created by early world leaders around from around the time of the first religon created which I'm guessing is buddahism(spell check?). That he eventually became somewhat of a celebrity at the time in the world which caused the creation of the world's first religon. Anyway, they do say Religon is warcrack for the masses. I don't feel like being all sciency this morning and don't argue with me about that word I made it up. But I left something out. Possibly religon could have been created to give people hope or (dare I say it) false hope.

Ah yes, but there is also the possiblity its all true.

The debate isn't on the validacy of religion, the argument is about the position of gays in, specifically, Christian church doctarine.

Unfortunately, nearly every religious sect has its own version of the Commandments and the Bible.

Thats why I left Islamic/Jewish/Hindu/Taoist/Scientologist/FlyingSpaghetiMonster views out.

Unless you are talking about the specific denomonations of Christianity, and yeah, a few groups have 11 commandments, others add entire books to the bible, others add extra disciples, they practice communion differently, some add different sacraments, as well as views on technology.

I suppose I should have clarified that better. I was referring to Christian sects. :/ All this "Extreme Teenager's Bible" crap gives it a bad name, honestly.

there is no god or afterlife.
:) only silly storys in silly old books to scare people into giving churches money

Off topic, go find Liquid Snake's religion thread. Although I doubt people would appreciate the bump.

You don't know that. No one knows that.

Its the 21st century. Church isn't mandatory anymore. If it was we'd be in the UK and in 2026. Where everyone has HDTV and watches nothing but propaganda all day. But at least the propaganda is in HD.

V for Vendetta?

The churches formed in the old world served the purpose of creating stability and giving multitiudes of people a banner to form under.  By stabilizing the policital and social world, and by emphasizing of serving a "god" it made sure that humans would work together and thus we would advance as a species.  These view eventually began to conflict with the very advancements that they brought about, Gallileo was a devout Catholic, and yet was put under house arrest by the Chrch for his Dialogue.  Since then science has been beating down religious fundamentalists with things like the theories of evolution, the biological esplanation for what they would call a "soul" and many other things.
The Church served it's purpose, it has gotten us this far, but now it is standing in the way of further adcancements.  I do not say that morals are no longer needed, only that teh conservatives have lost their power for a reason.  The world is moving on.  If ou think that the Big Bang was a pie in the Churhcs face I will tell you that the Pope actually SUPPORTED the theory because it made Genesis a reality.
On to the talk on the sects and on the books, the Christian Bible is made up of the 4 books of teh Torah, and the New Testament, random smaller sects add their own doctrine to the mix.

* correction
the late pope john paul stated that the theory of evolution is possible not the big bang theory
he had never said anything like that as far as i know

The big bang theory has been around a while, idk which pope said it.  And Jean Paul said that because he knew that fundamentalist chrches will die as soon as science accepts evolution fully(for those amoung you that dont know fundamentalists take teh bible literally, most believe that evolution is their last stand.)
