All of us:

--- Quote from: WRB852 on June 06, 2009, 05:53:11 PM ---The Bible never says they didn't have a daughter.

it also doesn't say they were the only people god created
Jervan:
It doesn't say a lot of things, that's why it's so believable.

A magical god creating people is way more likely than evolution.
Jervan:
I could come up with a story just as believable in a few seconds.... let me think... erm... When you die a "Retry / Quit" interface appears. When you die you live the life of the person you did most harm to. The possibilities of "what comes next" are endless, so it's no wonder some things seem to fit so well.
Thorax:

--- Quote from: WRB852 on May 24, 2009, 11:35:09 PM ---A long time ago, a guy created the conditions of early earth in tubes and vials, then put electricity through it simulating lightning. When he looked inside, he found complex amino acids - the building blocks of life. It's not as crazy as you think. Life is actually pretty likely to occur from a big bang.

--- End quote ---

That guy is Stanley Miller. In 1953, he conducted an experiment "proving" that you could get organtic compounds from inorgantic compounds. He put ammonia, hydrogen, methane and water vapor (All gases he thought were in earth's early atmosphere) into a test tube and ran an electric current through it to stimulate a lighting bolt. Amino acids formed inside the test tube. Now, the flaw of this experiment was oxygen. Stanley was careful to remove all oxygen from the tube, because if there was any present, the acids wouldn't form. Now, applying this to real world conditions, it would never be possible. If there was oxygen present, the acids wouldn't form. If no oxygen was present, there would be no ozone layer, meaning that as soon as the acids formed, they'd be killed by ultraviolet rays.

And, yet, it does. If they Bible was to state every person who ever lived back them, it would be hundreds of times longer than it is now. The names of people aren't as importent as how WE should live our lives.
