word codes?how do i change word color and stuff?

These dont seem to work for me D: I tried, it shows up regularly but the code between the < and > dissapears. Help? I have a mac, incase that helps. Mac version o' Bl.

EDIT: I just realized that you can only do this on events >.< But, you can chatmessageall this right? It's host only I know. Can you do it in the console?
