how do i get rid of guilt without confessing?

This depends entirely on how moral you are.
For some people it may not work but most people can convince themselves that it was either something they had to do, wasn't their fault or would have happened anyway.
EDIT: A favorite self lie I see used all the time is some form or "destiny", in this case you basically shift the blame to god.

That's entirely false. If you lie to your self, you're basically covering up the fact that you did it. You're hiding it in the back of your mind, and no matter how much you lie to yourself, it will show itself every chance it gets, unless you get it off your chest. I know you may think otherwise, but it's true.

2. Time for a moral spring cleaning, get rid of stuff you don't need.
