This crafting you're talking about is in survival mode.
Really, you should buy the game. At least, get it now, before the beta version(when MP Survival comes out), that way you get it at a discount.

Someone is gifting it to me, If I knew about this before I emptied out my wallet for super mario sunshine and a memory card, I would've gotten then.
