Notch has some kind of a personal problem with sharks. The mob list for Minecraft is really inconsistent though in terms of theme, scale of the creature accepted as a mob and so on.

Yeah. For example, the Enderdragon definitely feels more like a mod type of mob instead of a "Minecraft" one. Ever since its design was shown, it was clear [to me] that it didn't fit the style of the game.

an excellent seed is west to east. plants you on an island in the middle of a loving huge ocean. the downside, there's no sugar cane on the island, and only one tree. however if you plant the nether portal correctly, you'll end up right by a nether fortress.
