Minecraft 1.7 changed a massive amount of base code, including the sound and rendering systems, so he's essentially starting from scratch on writing up that. Also, Minecraft 1.7.3 is going to be coming out, and having a ton of mods updated to 1.7.2 would be problematic considering how many bugs 1.7.2 has which would require mod fixes if you have 1.7.2 mods. Since he works for Mojang now, he's even further in with the developers, so he'll definitely get the update out by 1.7.3. (And no, he wouldn't just take the code directly from the game for MCP. 1: The index would not match up AT ALL. 2: A major point is you don't have the actual source code - just an interpretation of it.) By the way, vanilla has default shaders. Obviously much less powerful, but hopefully 1.8 will help. |
