I know that it isn't way too much, but I can only assume because of the hill it ran off edges and created new sources.

I honestly haven't seen oil cover this much land.

Open it in paint.net, gimp, or photoshop and remove that pixel.

I once found a HUGE oil source underground. It started as a lake but one block wide all the way down nearly to bedrock and an even bigger underground lake of oil. It was awesome.
