Yea... No. It's amazing how farflung the stereotype has gotten. A lot of the time, emos don't do self-mutilation. It's become a "lifestyle" so to speak. The ones that do cut themselves and do other similar things don't do it to punish themselves. It's completely the opposite. They do it because they think physical pain will help dull the sharp emotional pain that they feel.
