--- Quote from: Lord Pie on June 21, 2009, 09:09:16 PM ---If they go that, they should allow some of us who are gifted to get ahead. It wouldn't make any difference to me though because I'm a senior next year. But honestly, treating every student equally is the worst idea the administration ever came up with. Every student is not equal and that is very clear to anyone who has passed elementary school. I believe that changes need to be made but more school is not the only answer. AP and honors classes offer chances for the smarter people to get ahead but students who fall behind never really fall behind even though they should remain at a grade level until they are damn well ready to proceed. It might motive some people anyway. If you don't want to repeat a year, you damn well better know your stuff. --- End quote --- Being pollitically correct and not offending people are all the rage nowadays... If you let one student move ahead, you'll make the other student feel inferior, and we don't want to do that, do we? I swear, America is becoming a socialist nation. What happend to the freedom to get ahead America used to have? |

I believe that this could be a good idea. Maybe not year round, only like maybe 200-260 days instead of 180. It would be more like European and Asian school systems. However, I do not believe that a longer day would help. Increasing the school day would just exhaust students (including me) more, and this would cause us to not work as hard. On the other hand, if we can raise the standards for teachers and the curriculum these days, it would be equally as good. I don't want America to fall behind other countries since we are (or could be more so) a great country compared to the many third world countries. Although if he does end up making the school year all year round, he should also increase the break size and the amount of breaks we have. I say increase the school year: Maybe. Increase the School day: Not at all. Don't be babies, deal with it. School isn't all that bad. But I do enjoy breaks too. |

It "offends" people too much. Why do people have to be so damn sensitive nowadays? |

The problem with people is they the give to much of a loving damn what other people think. forget other people. What did they ever do for me? Why should I give a stuff if they aren't smart enough to keep up with me in school? They should stay with the dumbforgets they belong with. forget equality if this is what it gets us. |
