Cable modem, good or bad?

I got a new cable modem and since the LAG notification flashes rapidly and I lag forward and backward just as rapidly. And I have fooled with the network settings. Is there an optimal setting for me? This is a problem that occurs with the default settings also. Is there a script or an addon or anything I can do to fix this apart from getting a modem? I miss blockland...

Change your connection to cable.

did this happen before the new modem(most ppl have a modem so i would say that if you have dsl or cable you need one)
