Welcome to Bob & Rob! For anyone who doesn't know, he re-wrote the minigame system so he could leave his dedi while the minigame was up. He's an impressive scripter, plenty worthy for the clan. He also has a computer devoted to nothing but hosting BL servers. (Dedi, anyone?) I'm quite excited to see what cool things he'll contribute to the clan.
Yes, hello hello everybody.
I have a few clarifications to make:
1) I didn't "re-write the minigame system" i was only able to mess with it enough so that I could have it totally separate from any clients. This way it could exist while I am not there to host it. I also wrote a bunch of hacks regarding spawning and a few other things that are problematic when the owner of a given brickgroup is not on the server.
2) Oh the dedi, oh the dedi, yes, it is quite wonderful. It's a brand new fully upgraded mac mini just for hosting BL. I spend so much time scripting that it's worth it to have something excellent to use my scripts on. I will be probably moving that comp to a location with more bandwidth soon, so prepare for an even less laggy server. Right now it's on a T1 but I can do better than that. The only thing stopping me is the console. I really need to have access to the console on my servers, however I host from a mac and the mac does not support the winConsole whatever it is called where you can type stuff back to it. I am currently writing a script that will fix this problem, however I don't want to talk about it too much just yet because I have a history of spilling my secret projects too soon and then somebody else gets it done before me. Not if I can't make an account there. Ephi has some bug where I can't make an account there, even in the previous forums I couldn't sync my BL_ID, he had to manually insert it into the database.
I'm just waiting for RTB3 to see if that'll solve anything. I think it may be because all of my comps have real static public IPs. (I don't see why that would be the problem but that's the main difference between somebody who can register and myself.)
Although yes, I do plan on releasing my stuff. If it weren't for others releasing their scripts for me to read, I wouldn't know what I know today, the least I can do is give a little back. If I can't get them on RTB I'll just release them here and on
