BL Sounds, From Where?

I was just using a program called "Securable" to see what my processor could handle, for when I pre-order Windows 7.  I clicked the thing saying my processor handled 64 bit, and it made the Blockland brick shift sound, so where did these sounds come from?  Is this just a coincidence that these two are alike or what?

Public domain sounds, tons of older games used them.

Ever listen to the playerdeath.wav in .5 timescale? It's the Quake death sound.

Thought the player death sounded from beachhead 2000?
