Bisjac:
anything of value a person can learn from the bible to apply to his life, you don't need the bible for. its just the same lessons and morals we have all learned a million times.
only the bible threatens you with hell and such. and offers alot of crazy stories for those same lessons you can learn elsewhere.

--- Quote from: Rughugger on September 14, 2009, 02:15:11 PM ---You've never fully read the Bible so like you'd know. And I find many many examples of moral guidelines. And all it takes is one good minister to point them all out. It's up to the reader to make that call for himself it it morally applies to his life or not. But you closed your mind to any supporting argument I make already, so I won't beat a brain-dead horse about it.In the day, it was. But like most languages that hadn't adapted written language yet, tales always had the tendency to be exaggerated. When it was finally written, it most likely contained a lot of things we fund hard to believe. Same is true for the Greek mythos. We know it's full of stuff, but it was the best they could do to try and understand what was going on around them.

Don't give me that stuff.

You must kill those who worship another god.  Exodus 22:20

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own.  Deuteronomy 13:6-10

Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you.  Deuteronomy 13:12-16

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own.  Deuteronomy 17:2-7

Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13

Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20

Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Mark 6:11

Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him.  Jude 5

And this is from the new testament, too, which is supposed to be even more moral.
Bisjac:
the new testament only changes how you get into heaven. it never undid all those other things god told you to do.
