Lol I dunno. Whatever Comcast put in. And then we plugged our Airport base station in to it, set that up via one of our computers, and voila! internet. Then I port forwarded using the Airport Utility.

No, you don't have to. You can do it the normal way most people do, or you can use Airport. Same as on a PC, you can do it normally, or you can use Airport. Airport isn't mac-only, but it is made by apple. It's not required for wireless internet use, but lots of people that use Macs choose to because they like Apple products. I like Apple products, and I prefer to use airport.

I dunno man. Is that how it works? Whatever comcast gave us we plug our Airport into.
