Blockland getting back to it's roots

Info on the Problem
Even though it lagged more, had more bugs and etc. Blockland v0002 was still incredibly fun. With it's cool little console functions and simple building system, fun was a given. Don't get me wrong, I believe that all the upgrades to blockland create a vast potential, but potential is useless if it remains unreached. So my suggestion is to simplify Blockland a bit.

Solutions
- Turn the development of Blockland so it focusses on the core elements of Blockland; whatever you had planned for them to be Badspot.
- Do something about all these add-ons. Even though we don't have to download the models, we still have to download vehicles, maps and player types. Not to mention all the hullabaloo over which event add-ons are "Absolutely Necessary" for your server.
-  Include some sort of minigame, event, and macro tutorial in the next version of Blockland.
-Maybe include a macrosaver of sorts with some built in macros or add ambient music like in Minecraft

1. He did that before the game was released.
2. Badspot is trying to do that, but it just doesn't work for some things, so go cry somewhere else.  Actually, your models are the ones I've downloaded most.
3. I really have to agree, but you need to look at it at a scripter's standpoint, how would you script these things into the tutorial?  Ephi does all of this, he doesn't have access to the source code, so that's pretty good what he has done.
4/5.  I think Ephi's macro saver should be included, it's pretty good.  Also, just use an external media player, because that would forget the whole music brick system up.

Note that your "roots" seem to be wrong.  v2, to me, seemed more like a tech demo, but with less to demo, really.  Badspot didn't have anything that made BL good today, no culling, many more bugs, less mapping ability for Badspot.  And if you're saying RTB was simple, I'd have to call you insane.  That was HARD.  BL right now is pretty damn simple.  The events system is more of an advanced system, but it's real easy to learn, hell, I knew a lot on the second day!

What you're saying is true, but you don't have to download models and don't by default. But then again, playing a DM without weapon icons or models is pretty bad.

As far as events go, I was refering to the average Blockland player. In case you haven't noticed, Badspot has simplified Blockland to appeal to a wider audience, but we still have to deal with spam filled nub servers being the vast majority.

How easy it is to mod and such is a great turn on.  Badspot realized that we already loved to mod the game, and made it easier, we don't have exec anything.  Really, the new solution isn't the best, but it works, no matter how hacky it is.  Anything to stop all of the crappy dts's from filling my computer is nice.  THis isn't like the source engine, where it just replaces the actual model with "ERROR" which is nice, with it's collision, but is annoying.  Badspot has the knowledge that we were going to mod this, and the only thing I would do to this, is have something to change the model it will be, because the current system doesn't really cut it.  All unknown things are printers, when they should be guns, and guns should be swords, sometimes.

I've thought about that aspect too, but I still feel that it's too much work to make a good server.
