I used to hate the public transport around here but when you think about how convenient it is, its awesome. I don't need a car or anything because I just hop on a tube and go wherever.

Getting from place to place was easy. Just walk to the tube and go wherever.
What I really hate is the ticketing for the tube. In New York, it's just $2 whenever you enter the subway.

The fire of London cleared black plague

The New York subway is nationalised (as in run by the city of New York) but London Underground is actually a company running to make profits, so things work a lot differently in London, and not for the better.

New York City Transit is operated by the MTA which owns transportation around New York. MTA runs the Long Island RR, Metro-North RR(Connecticut and lower New York state), Long Island Bus, NYCT, MTA Bus, and bridges and tunnels around New York.

The New York subway isn't as clean, though. In the tube you you can see the arches of the tunnels and the platforms are well lit. In New York they're all green-painted beams and stuff.

MTA is state goverment run.
Ephialtes:
There are ups and downs to state-run or privately operated. London Underground used to be government operated, but it was very dirty and didn't run on time. However it was super cheap because profits were of no concern.
When it got privatised, it became much cleaner because people were actually paying proper money for it and they had a need to please travellers so they'd continue using it. And since its privately run, they have to pay the workers out of the profits alone so prices keep going higher and tube drivers keep going on strike to get more money, so we have to keep paying more to use them.

Weird, I know more about the city you live in than you do.
