These look bleached out on my desktop, but on my laptop they look like how I see the originals.

They are selectively smooth shaded. Complete smooth shade makes them look like balloons.

you should totally make a forest generator
with dense trees and very smooth terrain (range would be like 1-7, plates of courses), some flowers and keep it at rainy. I also think maybe some sounds (hidden music bricks) like an owl and birds, also small ponds would be cool.
