Those are normal here in Holland. I know how its called in Dutch but not in english. Lemme search :D

Its a Grey Heron.. common species in Holland.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_Heron

It could have been a Crane.
Or are they white?

Yeah, it's a Grey Heron. Looks almost identical to the Great Blue Herons I see around here.
