Unable to use Paint.NET Images? What?

Well, I have already tried to make 2 Half-Decent pictures with my Paint.NET, but It won't save as an image, rather than a Paint.NET Picture. (Or similar)

There's a dropdown box for format selection next to the save button on the window where you choose where to save it to.

That's the most basic thing you do with saving things, have you ever used Word or something? Because it's the same.
