Good news, everyone! I've decided to make a How-to guide for Blockland! [/farnsworth] I'd like everyone's help on this. I've made a few of these in various Help topics, and I'd like to make more. Basically what you need to do is make a nearly fool-proof guide on how to do something either in Blockland or on the forums. I'm looking for serious ones, but don't hesitate to make a few comedic ones as well. The serious ones will help people new to Blockland who have no clue what they're doing. Here's an example I made not too long ago: How to download add-ons 1. Go to the add-ons section of the forums and find the add-on you want. 2. Click the download link provided by the add-on creator. 3. If asked where to save, save to your add-ons folder located in your Blockland folder. If you aren't asked, move it there. 4. Start Blockland. 5. Click Start a Game. 6. Click the add-ons tab. 7. Check the box next to the add-on. 8. Start. Now, I know Badspot made an add-on installation guide already, this was purely an example. Please do them in this format, so it's easier to string together. As we collect enough serious ones, I'm going to put them all in a Notepad file to have for future reference. I might even make a Help topic or something in the hopes of it getting stickied for people to be able to check. I don't know. I guess this struck me as a good idea. I'm sort of babbling right now, aren't I? Blah blah blah. Open: Options>Controls 2. Scroll to the Building section of the Options. 3. Bind Toggle Build Macro Recording to any key. 4. Bind Playback Macro Recording to another key. 5. Toggle recording, and build, be sure to return the selected brick to the correct position to complete the macro 6. Toggle recording off 7. Use the Playback button to repeat the macro Notes 1. Preferably make the bind keys easy to reach, they make building much easier and faster. 2. Do not place bricks by shooting them while recording. Use the mouse wheel, or the numbers to switch between bricks for more complicated macros 3. Select different colors before placing the bricks, painting them later will not work while recording. 4. Macros are used to repeat simple tasks, such as building walls. Example You want to build a wall, but placing each brick would take much to long with a 1x6 brick. With a simple macro you can cut the building time in half. Start off by selecting the 1x6 brick, and starting the macro recording. Place the brick like normal, stacking up 6 on top of each other. Before ending the macro recording, move the brick to the bottom of the stack, and move it over 6 times so that it directly next to the newly created wall. Now when you playback the recording, it will create another wall directly next to yours, while moving the ghost over in preparation for another playback. How NOT to spam. 1. Don't spam! 2. Use larger bricks to accomplish what the smaller bricks made. 3. Never say it's for detail if it's just a box house without a separate wall on the inside or a proper roof on top. Notes 1. Walls made of "2 by1" bricks are spam unless it's not a box house with a roof. Example If you make a build of a house but use "1 by 1 by 5" bricks for walls, That Is Spam! If you use "1 by 4 by 5" bricks and smaller bricks for the corners, That Isn't Spam! |

Posting a Console Log 1. Start up blockland, and hit the tilde key (~) to bring the console down in-game. 2. Type into the console, trace(1); and close the console again by pressing the tilde key 3. Continue to navigate windows, connect to servers, and play normally until you get an error. 4. Go to your Blockland directory (Default under C:/Blockland) and find the file labeled "Console". 5. Open the Console file and save it as a text document. Notes Getting your Console log is essential to diagnosing, and correcting problems within Blockland. When posting on the forums, including your console log is usually the difference between getting a positive and helpful response from the community, and getting posts limited to "Post your console log". There is only so much we can do with your description of the problem. |
