Which should I choose?

My dad made me a deal.I will be getting $40 to spend.I can either spend it on a few computer games and he will pay to get my computer stuff upgraded a bit.And he will get me a computer controller so I can play better =P.Or I can buy a Gamecube and a game or two and not get the upgrade.What should I do?...You decide.Which is a better deal?
