Yeah, because there's a sudden outburst of people who wants to believe in Greek Mythology which is even more messed up and violent than Christianity could ever be. I mean those gods, aside from raping anything they could get their hands on demanded constant attention and worship and would literally kill and destroy if someone decided "Oh, I just don't feel like it today" Not to mention they were rather reckless with civilian casualties when they ended up fighting each other.
Really makes you think what was going on in their undeveloped paranoid minds at the time to have to explain anything with a new god. Of course alcohol was drunk far more often back then since it was far more pure than the water sources.
