Pan is in the legend of that guy who ran from Marathon to Athens to deliver 1 message. Pan asked that guy why the ppl didn't worship him/her? Then they built a shrine to him/her. I think Pan is a guy though.

Im pretty sure Pan was the God of nature, and only a few people/guys-with-horse-legs beleived in him.

It's a good book, you can probably find it in the library. It was written in 1942 and it's still a standard on school reading lists.
