Port forward problem

My old computer broke, and it was attached to our router, so the router isn't connected to a computer, just directly in the wall.  Ever since, on my laptop, the internet has been connected but the Local Area Connection has not been connected.  Since You have to edit the properties of the LAC, this leads me to believe this is the problem.
