Your doing it wrong somewhere.

I'm guessing you screwed up setting up a static Ip.
Also, triple check everything you did and make sure it matches the directions.

You do realize the difference between LAN and WAN right?
Your ISP determines if your WAN IP is static or not.
YOU (with the help of a router, any one works) determine if your LAN IP is static or not.

I assume you didn't disable firewall or enter tcp/ip settings.
