Help me find a video card.

I know it's backward and forward compatible, but that's not the issue.

A card meant for a 2.0 slot will be bottlenecked by a 1.0 slot.

so what
im not going to upgrade my motherboard, or settle for a crappier video card.

It will be a good idea to upgrade your motherboard at some point in the future, because you won't get your money's worth out of a new card.

Well, the card possibly being bottlenecked by the bandwidth of the PCI-e slot would only really be a problem is certain high end games that would actually use that much bandwidth. If he is buying a card for under $130, he probably wont be getting a card which needs more PCI-e bandwidth then his motherboard can supply, so in his case it shouldn't be a problem.
