Welcome back
--- Quote from: Duckmeister on September 02, 2009, 10:50:12 AM ---I use AVG Free 8.5, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search & Destroy.
They recently saved me from a Trojan attack, the one with the "you must update your shockwave player" screen that stays above all windows.
I restarted the computer, didn't open up the internet browser (that's what triggers it) and ran Spybot, it found it almost immediately and removed it no problem. Then I restarted again, ran the browser, it was gone, and then ran AVG, and it did the mop-up.
Only bad thing about AVG Free is that it purposely doesn't let you scan for rootkits. But that's what my other software is for.

It also saved me once or twice.

Like I said, not changing my anti-virus, and I don't want to download 5 different virus programs for one problem.
I just need to know how to view the super-hidden files in $Recycle.Bin and if deleting the problem one will cause my computer to critical fail.

You will here this on alot of spyware help forums/topics. Heres the reason why: A scanner uses a spy bot to check folders for known malcious items and sends the info to the scanner istelf. If it finds another spybot the scanner will detect it and cause so problems on preformance.

It is possible to not have real-time protection. Thus meaning you can have 50 anti viruses on your comp and not have any performance hit.

Well then you should have said that in the first place. Your post looked like you were advertising programs.
I'm downloading Spybot S&D right now.
EDIT: I just noticed McAfee isn't giving me SiteAdvisor warnings on my Google searches anymore. D:
