All Pentum 4's claim themselves as "dual-core" processors. However, they only have 1 "physical" core that can be used.

I had the exact same Pentium 4 you had, it's not dual-core.
Plus, I got about 40 FPS on L4D (max'd out), and when I upgraded to a Core 2 Duo (2.8 GHz), I got 60+ FPS at all times.
