Yeah, I don't think Ephi is going to kick out the alpha testers for the sake of having a completely random set of people. I'd also imagine if it was decided someone would be a helpful tester who could provide useful feedback, they'd simply be given the alpha, since that was how the other testers were picked.

We all already know the alpha testers are staying in.
He's opening slots for the fastest users when beta rolls along, while also keeping the alpha testers.
