handicapped characters shouldn't be allowed in Blockland names, but it's a little late for that. Unless Badspot resets all the names with handicapped characters and then disallows them. |

--- Quote from: Ephialtes on February 01, 2010, 01:31:33 AM ---We've just hit a roadblock in the buddy system. Basically the server only accepts UTF-8 character encoding and I'm pretty sure there are no character encoding functions in Torquescript so only people with non-handicapped characters in their names will be able to login. I'm going to look at a number of methods to bypass this since I don't really want to have to put some string encoding utilities into v15 because that'd delay us substantially. --- End quote --- AJAX does also have this problem. the only thing to fix it is to put every character to an integer which represent each character, then convert them back to the original ones. The problem here is that PHP doesn't support those advanced characters and Torque obviously doesn't either... |

PHP handles character encoding fine and Torque handles most character sets. I'm not sure what you're talking about. |

The stupid symbols are just a pain. It is almost impossible to use slash commands on them. |

I've got another helpful idea: Since server tracking for online buddies are possible, and we all know all RTB Servers can show what players are in their server, and that non-RTB servers cannot what players they have in the server list, I propose the idea of finding RTB players in a non-RTB server, and therefore, we can see who RTB users are in a certain server, even if it was RTB-powered or not. Kinda useful if you want to check out who's in the server. |
