KINEX:
Since this is a Retail discussion I would like to ask a few questions.

Many have stated before that the key feature in retail is the amount of bricks it can retain without lag and its better lighting features but what other features does it contain that make it physically different from the original? Cosmetically you see the different look of the players and bricks but what engine changes have been made?

So far what we have seen different:
Lighting
Cosmetic changes
Better walking horses
More retainable bricks
'jello' bricks

So what else can we expect our twenty bucks to bring?
Wedge:
Faces on bricks are rendered in quads, faces covered by other bricks are hidden (making traditional brick spam impossible), lighting fixes, a new saving system, decals that actually attach to bricks instead of floating, physics stuff, mostly more realistic jetting and jumping, a better way of handling vehicles, and nice maps, among other things. Brick colors are done differently, if you create a new color, people don't need to download it, if you load a build from one mod into another, the color pallete should load better, and other stuff.

Hmm.. I run that site and could I put those pics into the site BS?
Badspot:
Paint colors are done dynamically and set on the server.  If you want to run a custom color set on your server, all you have to do is change some numbers.  The clients download the colors and the paint menu is filled in automatically when they connect to a server.

Any brick can be transparent just by painting it

A new method of saving bricks allows anyone connected to the server to save the bricks to their hard drive.  Admins can upload saved buildings from their local disk to the server.

Brick planting errors are shown as icons rather than flooding the chat

The torque chat box is gone.  It has been replaced by re-sizable outlined text.

The brick menu is automatically generated and filled with the brick datablocks downloaded from the server.  The brick gui will not have to be changed to add new bricks or re-organize them.

The gui uses the mouse wheel and is client-side predicted.  You can scroll through bricks and paint lightning fast.

Player names are centrally registered.  People will not be able to steal your name.  Bans are by ID#, not IP, and are therefore much more difficult to get around.  The authentication system will be used for a universal trust list- Add your friends once and you'll be able to build together on any server.

All parts of your avatar can be changed and set to any RGB color.  That wierd thing where your hat lags behind your head doesnt happen anymore.

I have fixed the most all of the bugs with particle emitters in torque.  They don't disappear, they don't get patchy, they don't float away from their emitter.

/sit /love /hate /wtf emotes

Portable light for players

place dynamic lights, particle emitters and weapons with ease

robust set of options: change texture detail, particle density, fullscreen refresh rate, network settings for different connection types, default controls for laptop keyboars, one button mice, 2 button mice, and wheel mice, turn off animated lights if they annoy you

Add new avatar faces and chest decals just by dropping files into a directory.  If other people have your custom face/decal they will see it, if they dont have it they see the default

New master server queries faster and doesn't crash

Observer cameras are visible (glowing orbs)

Visual feedback for all brick operations (you can see other people waving their arms and stuff while building)

That's just off the top of my head.  Virtually everything has been fixed or improved.  Blockland v2 is a torque mod, this is a game made with torque.
