Getting a laptop.

Nope.
Unless you want it with the stuffty Intel GMA 4500MHD, which won't even run Fallout 3.

Yeah, I have that on this laptop, which is my sister's, and it's terrible.

It's a Gateway computer, epic for gaming, just weigh about, 9.1 LBS.
EDIT: Also, with a $1000 budget, that computer is about $900. so you could probably buy a game or a headset if your dad allowed it. :O

It's an Acer Aspire 1350, 7 years old.
