I think it's rather redundant that all animal life on the planet would die save for a person's pet. Just seems like something the OP buckled under and gave in on the last minute. Secondly, in all reality, should all life be extinguished leaving 3 survivors, I doubt there'd be hardly anything left, nor would the surface be inhabitable. Enjoy your apocalypse.
