I don't think its a 'laggy' problem on the list it comes up with the lowest ping, which in theory would be right because i'm on the same network as his PC.

You're an idiot. Why even bother wasting his time trying to help him if you have no loving idea what to do yourself? Get out.

What kind of network do you have? Because I've had a couple troubles setting up a server on a wireless network so that the people on the network could join. Also, the fact that he's not hosting LAN could also be a factor. If neither of those give any hint to what is happening, then i'm not completely sure. Nobody that I know of has had this problem before, so it's strange.
whoremoan:
It's not on a wireless network, just lan connected to internet.
The ports are forwarded to my sons computer OK because other people from outside can join.
When I click join server it's at that point I get the windows error, although occasionally it will display the loading screen then I get the error.
Earlier I tried running a dedicated server, but neither of us could join, we both had the same problem I have.
Looking at that it looks like it's something on my network that is stopping it running?
I have Mcafee. I've tried turning off the firewall on both PC's nothing?
Also on the server log it shows my IP as the external internet one, not my local LAN IP.
Could it be that we are both showing the same External IP as we are both using the same internet connection and thats freaking the game out?
