In case you didn't notice, pickpocketing someone of their "oranges" gives you less demerits than killing someone. Also, think about "accidental" in a realistic sense. We don't have any non-lethal weapons. If you "accidentally" shot someone with your AK-47, or if you "accidentally" sunk your axe in to your neighbor's skull, it doesn't really make as much sense as if you accidentally hit a misshapen pedestrian with your car. So really, the only place we could improve that is by making it so cars can't hurt people, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing until cops start pretending to be Clark Kent and stopping a jeep full of fleeing criminals with their bare hands. And it wouldn't really decrease crime rate because now we just have the same level as crime, but with more people passing it off as an "accident". Jailbaiting and stuff is a different story, but that's why we have rules. You really can't script the game mode to detect if something was an accident or not. On top of this, every crime doesn't make you instantly wanted, excluding murder and possibly GTA. --- End quote --- For your first statement, I say this... "Although the metaphor was over exaggerating, it's still true." As I have already said before, if you read the whole paragraph. Your respondent statements were correct, though. But you seem to take things to literal, and see the negatives in things a lot more than the positives. Passing something off as an "accident" is pretty useless if you meant to do the crime, you don't gain anything. So if we look at this game as a world where you can re-spawn, and everyone is easily pissed off, this "accident" crime system makes a lot more sense. Especially since people can just engulf pills and heal themselves. Tell me, what's that in the real world? Drug abuse. <3 |

Like I said, people would still be shooting up civilians with a deagle, but this time they'd just call each shot a misfire. From a pure role-playing perspective, accidents would be ok to implement, because people who committed crimes would want to be seen as outlaws, and so people who accidentally shot their friend in the face with a crossbow wouldn't want to be labeled as wanted criminals. However, no one really role plays that much in the server; they usually just get pissed off and then go buy a gun and shoot people until they run out of ammo or money. One thing I always think of when the suggestion for exceptions of accidental crimes comes up is the cops who just completely forget everyone over no matter what that person did. You, being a pretty frequent user, should know about the people who beg and beg a cop to stop trying to arrest them because they're wanted by some type of accidental crime, and even if a friend is vouching for them, the cop still goes to arrest them. Usually they end up arrested unless they run away, decide to kill the cop (which forgets them even more), or if someone else decides to interfere and distract the cop by killing him or something. Or if I get involved, but I usually don't unless it violates the jailbaiting rule. So what I'm really trying to say here, and probably didn't communicate very well with the whole vigilante thing a few posts back, is that it's entirely up to the players to make sure the justice system is 100% fair. Diggy can only do so much in the script, and admins are only online for so long. |
