Tally starts to kill me with a baton. I kill him in self defense, get wanted.
Then I leave and come back due to him finding me, and go to the bank to get some cash to pay demerits.
I go to the police station, they chase me and jail me. Really.

Well there's your problem. Do you know if that was from using the craft event so much, or he had 0 and just started selling ore, or what?

1a has been using an event that causes him to spawn unlimited items. The other event causes him to get -2900something lumber and lowers the lumber prices.

Swat made an attempt at fixing it buy buying 100k lumber, even that didn't fix it.
