Well then you're already beyond ignorance. Language classes never teach you enough about surviving in another country. There is a lot more involved that you'll never learn unless you have actually gone there. I took 4 years of honors German and I still have problems 8 years later with talking to locals. Just finish the course and don't be a baby about it.

To take a German class in college would set me back a cool Grand, easily. Not including gas, meals for the long trip to the closest campus that offers it. $200 is pocket change.
