High will from skills such as windmill and crit, as well as high current levels also help a little bit
You can only crit 30% of the time though, so don't bother unless you fight a lot of enemies with high protection (every 1% of protection blocks 2% crit)
Only time I really need that much crit is things like dragons and peaca, other then that I usually use the crossbow with damage gear, which gives me enough crit for medium-protection stuff like ciar adv, higher level shadow realm, and non adv hardmodes.

I like it alot, other than the fact that there is a lot of travel and you walk as fast as a snail.
