I put rap in "apostrophes" because some people would argue that it is alternative or dance or some other random thing instead of rap. Even though it sounds like most other rap songs.

You can't exactly judge a genre by what you find on the radio, and all genres deal with shallow subjects. These are only a few artists from the genre since I don't listen to vocal Hip-Hop that much. I also tried to show musicians who incorporate more sounds than just what you might expect to find in Hip-Hop.
Music isn't about lyrics anyway, that's not to say it can't be difficult to enjoy a song with terrible lyrics, music is still all about sound.
