I've gotten flamed plenty of times for doing that.Because the people are pissed thats its a request and not a song.

Just make sure you put request in the title, and then there shouldn't be confusion.
If people flame you for the song, that's different. If they flame you for requesting in that section, it's allowed, so to Hell with them.
