Please, I have moved on from arguing with petty creationists to full on moderate Christians. Don't bring me back.

I'll give you one word of advice: read a book that doesn't contain the word Jesus.

:D I love you.  :cookieMonster:

He still loves you.

I don't know where you got that conclusion from.

Maybe I would agree with you if you said "the existence of the christian God" or any religion by that matter.

--- Quote from: Inv3rted on October 09, 2009, 08:00:32 PM ---It appears you are taking the position of full agnosticism, where either option has an equal probability of being correct. This is simply not so. The odds are way against the existence of God, but of course there is that tiny, tiny chance.

--- End quote ---

And so you're saying that because that tiny, tiny chance exists that you don't believe it?

What about when man once thought that the only way to get around was horse and carraige, he thought a car that drove itself was perposterous. Look at the world now. Once man thought the only way to fly was to wear wax wings, and if you flew too close to the sun they'd melt and you'd fall to your death. Now people travel by air countless times a day.

See this is what I hate about those who claim to be "completely atheist because of science". I mean, science is all about believe in in the impossible, and then making a better world. And I hate to say it, but a world with a God (not this world, mind you) or at least "hope" makes it all the better. Sure, I don't mean that we have to have religion at all, but to say that something doesn't exist simply because you can't see it is preposterous. Man once thought that cold was an element, and that it was a thing that could get inside of you. If we lived in this world you dream of where the impossible means nothing, we'd still be living in the dark age. Science only advances when people are willing to (and I quote magic school bus here) take chances, make mistakes, and get messy.

If everyone simply believed that the world as we know it is exactly what it is, we wouldn't have cells. We wouldn't have atoms. We wouldn't have anything on the microscopic level.

Odds mean nothing. Odds are simply a man made statistic that tries to prove something. How many stories haven't you heard where the good guy wins, despite all odds against him.

Dare to believe in something. Dare to accept another person, even when you know he's wrong. Dare to be caring and dare to be understanding, and never, ever think you know it all. Because you don't. And you never can.
