Well it was pretty much firmly established by the end of the second one, that a breakup isn't going to happen. So it's either a death or a mental institute. Since death or a governmental facility might be the only thing that would keep the Decepticons from kidnapping her and using her against Sam.
Well it was off of someone's fan site. They offered no sources to any legitimate sites to confirm this. So I have to err on the side of doubt.

According to this Google search, that site was the only place that stated so. So yeah, you're probably right.
